KHAMIR’s upcoming tailoring and fabrication centre will serve Kachchh’s ajrakh block printers, weavers, batik printers, bandhani tie and dye artisans and artisan collectives. This service is intended to add value to locally crafted fabrics and to help artisans diversify their product range by locally producing high-quality contemporary finished textiles. The Tailoring and Fabrication Centre will allow textile artisans to experiment with new craft possibilities, meet national and international standards for finished textile products, and explore new market opportunities.
locally producing high-quality contemporary finished textiles.
KHAMIR’s Tailoring and Fabrication Centre will also serve buyers working with Kachchh artisans. KHAMIR will work directly with national and international buyers to produce samples and orders based on individual buying needs.
Tailoring is not a traditional Kachchh craft skill. The Tailoring and Fabrication Centre will train and provide employment opportunities to non-artisans whose skills add value to Kachchh’s traditional products and textile crafts.
