Value Added Services

KHAMIR- Craft Resource Centre’s Artisan Service Centres offer critical services and resources that artisans need to add value to their products, adhere to international quality standards, and develop a market advantage.  KHAMIR is developing value added service centres to offer all levels of Kachchh artisans’ access to raw materials, quality dyeing, fabrication, and standardized quality management systems. These services centres will be based at KHAMIR’s campus located 15km from Bhuj, Kachchh’s district capital.

Raw Material Depot

KHAMIR-Craft Resource Centre’s Raw Material Depot procures high quality raw materials that are not locally available at competitive prices and makes these materials available to Kachchh’s textile and non-textile artisans.  This service is vital to almost all the region’s craft sectors.raw material

reduces production costs, ensures quality and helps artisans meet market demands.

The Raw Materials Depot not only helps artisans reduce production costs but it also helps artisans ensure quality and meet market demands.   For example, raw materials like organic cotton and natural dyes distinguish Kachchh artisans so they can meet niche and target markets.  KHAMIR’s upcoming Credit Service will work in partnership with the Raw Material Depot so artisans can better acquire the raw materials they need.

The Raw Material Depot currently stocks materials for the following crafts: handloom weaves, ajrakh block print, bandhani, mashroo, leather, and metal bells.  Though the list of materials stocked at KHAMIR is constantly expanding, KHAMIR currently provides the following raw materials to Kachchh artisans:
