Lac Turned Wood
KHAMIR Craft Resource Centre works to address the social development challenges facing the Vadha community (Vadha is the community that makes lac turned wood products) while simultaneously repositioning their craft tradition as a sustainable livelihood.
Since March 2010, KHAMIR established a work shed space at its campus which has been equipped with re-designed hand lathes for better productivity, seasoned, pre-sized wood, standardized colors as well as a machine lathe for bulk orders. A group of 10 lacquer wood artisans use the work shed to produce in scale and efficiency-led processes. Product development is being done by KHAMIR for utility markets such as interiors and architectural application.
This facility is available for buyers, architects, designers to execute bulk as well as batch orders.
