Challenges of the craft communities have certain commonalities across the country which also apply to the craft sector of Kachchh. These are the disadvantages of the informal sector that is totally dependent on its own resources and initiatives.

While the challenges of credit, markets, R&D, technology, infrastructure, competition from industrial products affect crafts across the board, each craft sector has its specific challenges and issues.

KHAMIR therefore takes a sectoral approach with the crafts that it works with. The response has therefore been varied and innovative depending on the requirement and articulated needs of a particular sector.
