With the support of the Confederation of India Industry (CII) and the Government of Gujarat, KHAMIR established its 2007 campus located 15km from Bhuj, the district capitol of Kachchh, Gujarat. The campus is situated on 8 acres of desert plain near Kukma and Lakhond Villages. It was designed by Professor Neelkanth Chaaya from CEPT, Ahmedabad's Centre for Environmental Planning and Technology. The buildings were constructed by the Hunnar Shaala Foundation for Building Technology and Innovations, an organization based in Bhuj that synthesizes scientific and modern building science with traditional building knowledge to create high quality buildings, infrastructure and community spaces.
Currently 1800sq metres of the campus have been developed. This space is home to KHAMIR Craft Resource Centre which works to revitalize, reposition, and promote Kachchh's traditional craft sectors. In the future, the campus will also house KHAMIR's music, heritage, and ecology efforts.
Currently KHAMIR uses its campus in collaboration with artisans to address the holistic needs of each sector, co-ordinate trainings, build local capacities, facilitate trade while maintaining fair trade practices, ensure quality standards, and invest in design and technical development.
